System Notes

The NSWGRN is made up of Zones 1, 2 and 3 and is managed by Telstra Corporation Ltd on behalf of the NSW Government.  The NSWGRN is an Omni-link Smartzone system running mixed mode voice communications with digital only mode expected  to be introduced by 2010.  Currently radios are being upgraded to XTL5000 and XTS5000.

A number of users will be running voice encryption - including the NSW Police who are expected to migrate across to the system as sites are expanded and equipment is upgraded .

The information for the NSWGRN listed here has come from a variety of sources including a great deal of personal listening by various people with commercial trunk-trackers on the market, trunker programme data collected and from a number of websites, especially: scannsw's "Scanning the NSW Emergency Services"  (now defunct)  and "NSW Emergency Service Scanning". Frequency information has been sourced from the ACMA database and from a number of pages that had appeared  on Scannsw's old site about 18 mths ago. Many of the Zone 3 sites have yet to become operational, still awaiting links, undergoing acceptance testing and mabe transmitting in digital only.
