System Notes
On February 2, 2007, one of the four Groundhog Day tornados struck and collapsed the main 1500’ radio tower supporting mission critical area communications for Lake County.
In response to the 2007 Groundhog Day tornado outbreak, on February 21, 2007, Pepro and Motorola delivered a Pepro Commander ™ 850 to restore critical communications for the various agencies serving Lake County.
The trailered system is now used as the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) on an "as needed" basis as both a backup system, and a deployable regional resource for mass casualty incidents.
