The Burwood Local Government area is situated in the inner wester suburbs of Sydney. Being 7.26 square kilometres in area, it is one of the smallest local government areas in the state and has a relatively high population density.
Bordered by Concord (Parramatta Road) on the north, Canterbury (Cooks River) on the south, Strathfield (The Boulevarde) on the west and Ashfield to the east, the Burwood Council area encompasses 6 suburbs:
Burwood,
Burwood Heights,
Croydon,
Croydon Park,
Enfield
and part of Strathfield.
The resident population of Burwood LGA as at 7 August 2001, was 29 960 persons (14615 males and 15345 females). This represents an increase of 1381 people (4.8%) since 1996.
