NJ Transit Rail Operations operates several commuter rail lines within the State of New Jersey and operates under contract two lines for Metro North into New York State. NJT has connections into several major passenger terminals such as New York Penn Station, Hoboken Terminal, Newark Penn Station, Secaucus Junction. NJT Police are primarily on the state trunked systems with the conventional channels are a backup. Newark Penn Station is currently still using conventional radio.
