The Royal Malaysia Police (RMP), is wrapping up the deployment of a multi-site, Project 25 TRS. This system consists of 200+ sites strategically located across East and West Malaysia. Likewise, simulcast cells are being used in large metropolitan areas for improved handheld coverage. The system and supporting infrastructure was built by Motorola, and uses the ASTRO 7.11 platform, using Phase 1 modulation. Currently, the RMP has over 55,000 radios on the system, but this number will likely be raised significantly when the system is upgraded to ASTRO 7.13 by the fall of 2015. Once fully completed, the new P25 TRS would place all emergency first responders and national security forces on one unified radio network.
