For the most part, Public Safety organizations in the Capital Region operate on the CREST trunked radio system. However, they still retain the ability to operate on conventional repeaters and simplex channels as conditions warrant.

Fire Repeaters

There are over 20 different Fire Departments within the Capital Region, and all of them are now able to communicate with each other, thanks to CREST.

The vast majority of departments operate on a CREST talkgroup, with the capability of switching to a unique Fireground Simplex channel should the need arise. 

Most of the Volunteer Fire depts. are paged out by Langford Fire Dispatch or Saanich Fire Dispatch on either a VHF or UHF paging network.
